The HCG naval fleet consists of vessels and crafts of various types and categories as stated below:

The mission of the HCG vessels & crafts is listed below:
a. The provision of assistance to persons and to ships, boats, dinghies or other marine means and aircrafts in risk at sea, in accordance with the rules of seamanship and naval experience and the relevant search and rescue regulations, always taking into account the prevailing weather conditions.
b.The transport of persons in need of immediate assistance (patients-injured) accompanied by a doctor of the National Emergency Aid Centre(E.K.A.B), provided that no other suitable means are available, in particular with the HCGvessels that are properly equipped with the relevant medical equipment.
c. The prevention and suppression of any illegal act at sea.
d. The inspection of compliance of ships with maritime safety issues.
e. The assurance of law and order and the security of the state.
f. The prevention and handling of pollution of the marine environment.
g. The participation in exercises and joint operations with other co-competent authorities of the European Union or of Third Countries abroad.
h. The boarding and inspection of ships.
i. The adoption of any other action concerning the responsibilities and obligations of the Hellenic Coast Guard that aims at the implementation of the applicable legislation.
j. Missions related to the national defence of the country.
k. Addressing the refugee crisis, particularly in the Eastern Aegean Sea.
To be noted that all appropriate actions are being constantly takenforthe suppliance and modernization of all of the HCG operational meansso that the HCGfleet can always respond to the increased needs that arising.
