The Hellenic Coast Guard (Greek: Λιμενικό Σώμα – lit. "Harbour Corps") was established by virtue of article 3 of Law 1753/1919 and was renamed (in Greek) to “Λιμενικό Σώμα - Ελληνική Ακτοφυλακή” – Limeniko Soma-Elliniki Aktofylaki – lit. "Harbour Corps - Hellenic Coast Guard") by virtue of article 1 of Law 3922/2011. Its primary mission is the enforcement of Greek, European and International law in the areas of its mandate, as described in more detail on this page.
